| Bruce
Roberson has served as Ochiltree County Attorney since 1981. In
his 22 years as Ochiltree County Attorney, Roberson has represented
the citizens of this community in every conceivable kind of case.
From capital murder to thousands of lesser offenses, Roberson
has a record of success that is unsurpassed in the state. Commenting
on his duties in the courtroom, Roberson said: "I have done
my best, not to convict, but to see that justice was done. The
job of the County Attorney is not about winning or losing. The
County Attorney's job is to see that everyone who is accused is
afforded a fair trial while insuring that the rights of the victims
and citizens of the county are fully and equally protected."
A
legal scholar and an outstanding prosecutor, Roberson has been
honored with numerous awards over the course of his tenure as
Ochiltree County Attorney. In 1986-87 Roberson was selected to
serve as chairman of the Texas Bar Association, Criminal County
Attorney's Association and thereafter served 5 years on the board
of directors of the Texas Association of Counties. Commenting
on his years of service to his chosen profession, Roberson said:
"My first responsibility is to the citizens of Ochiltree
County and I have never allowed service on a statewide board or
commission to interfere with my duties as Ochiltree County's prosecutor."
The
job of County Attorney is more than just the courtroom. The job
requires that you be involved in all parts of the community. To
fulfill this responsibility the Ochiltree County Attorney serves
as legal counsel to the Commissioners Court and the department
head of each office in local county government. The County Attorney
works with various agencies to enforce health, safety and consumer
regulations; works to protect the rights of the elderly and disabled;
plays a significant roll in the enforcement of child support orders;
works to coordinate victim services; and has undertaken educational
outreach programs that benefit all citizens of this county.
A
native Texan, Bruce Roberson was born in Houston and raised in
Lubbock. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors
degree in marketing, he received his law degree from Texas Tech
University School of Law in 1972. Bruce and his wife Ruth have
been married for 32 years and have one married daughter, Amanda
Stanley, who resides in the Denver area. Having chosen Perryton
as their home, Bruce and Ruth have become thoroughly involved
in the community. Be it church activities, support the students
in the schools, service clubs, or community projects Bruce and
Ruth have been on the front lines of making Perryton and Ochiltree
County a better place to live for everyone.
